How to Install the Crane Loading Deck

The retractable crane loading decks (referred to as "platforms" or “decks”) have become a good choice in recent years for the handling of construction materials and tools between floors and the ground. It can transport materials, equipment and tools for construction to the ground, and can transport the garbage, waste and tools generated by construction to the transfer station on the ground.

The crane loading decks can greatly increase the working efficiency and ensure good safety at the construction site. When the crane loading deck is used with a crane, it can quickly and safely transport goods to different floors of high-level buildings. The crane loading decks can be installed at the same position of different floors, when goods need to be delivered to a specific floor, the loading decks above that floor can be withdrawn to the building side, so the goods can be smoothly delivered.

To install the crane loading deck, firstly you need to choose a suitable method of props according to the site conditions. There are four ways of installation as below for your choice.

1) 2 front props method

2) 4 props method

3) anchor bolts method

4) joint installation of 1)&3)

After selecting the suitable installation way and finding a suitable location on the floor, then you can make preparation for the installation as following:

1. Prepare the necessary tools for installation, i.e. wrenches, hammers, safety harnesses, riggings, ladders,etc.
2. Clean up the installation location on the floor, holes should be drilled in advance on the slabs if anchor bolts method is chosen.
3. Set up warning signs at the installation site.
4. Wear safety helmet, harness and other safety gears

Once the preparation work is done, the lifting job can be carried out.

Before lifting, first determine the working length of the platform according to the site needs, insert the stop latch into the appropriate position and fix it, step down the ramp pedal to raise the ramp, remove the movable end pins to push the movable frame out, and then put the movable end pins back.

Then, connect wire ropes or lifting chains to the 4 lifting lugs and lift the crane loading deck and remember to adjust the platform attitude to level or tilt at a certain angle.

Attention: All movable parts on the crane loading deck must be firmly fixed, and do not stay under the lifted deck.

Then take the crane loading deck to the target floor and move the crane’s hook to get it into the building.

Attention: During installation, make sure that the distance between the bottom tube under the fixed frame to the slab edge is 0; If not, please consult the manufacturer.

Once the crane loading deck is lifted in position, then you can install it according to the method you have chosen.

1. Four(4) props/ Two (2) props: Adjust the props height by pulling the inner props out, and ensure that the they are vertical to the floor above, then turn the screw jack until the top bracket is fitted firmly with the floor surface.( The correct use of the screw jack: first tighten it by hand, and then knock the lugs of adjusting nut with a hammer to rotate it 90-180°)

Attention: Do NOT tighten the screw jack too much, otherwise it will increase the force on the props, which may cause damage.

Then install the prop connection rods to the props.

2. Anchor bolts method: Drill holes in the installation floor in advance, and check if there are any cracks near the holes (if any cracking phenomenon, stop the installation immediately, and contact the jobsite). After the crane loading deck is lifted in position, install the platform by M24 wall-through bolts (the length can be customized according to floor thickness). Use a large round spacer with double nuts on the platform side, and a large square spacer with double nuts on the floor side.

Check and make sure everything is firmly secured, then remove the steel wire rope or lifting chain. And at last, remove the transport fixtures before the crane loading deck is put into use.
